This is a lovely Aida Whedon Watergate A.P. Original Etching.  The A.P. stands for 'Artist's Proof' which means that this was one of the first prints set aside from an edition and was for the artist's use.   Professionally framed and matted in a Metallic Glass frame. Signed by the artist at the bottom of the Etching.

Aida Whedon, (1915-93) Port Washington, NY studied at the Art Students League with Thomas Hart Benton and Hans Hoffman from 1933 to 1938 and with Ruth Leaf at the New School of Social Research from 1975 to 1980. Her works are in many collections, including the North Shore Unitarian Church of Plandome, L.I., the universities of Maine, Chicago and Rutgers, and many banks and corporations. After her first show at the Walker Gallery in New York in 1937, she had one-person shows at the South Street Museum, the Graphic Eye Gallery in Port Washington, and galleries in England, Maine, New York and Long Island.

Aida Whedon, painter, etcher, and teacher, was born in 1915 in New Orleans and died in 1993 in Port Washington, NY. Her primary state of residence was New York. 

The artist studied at the Art Students League with Thomas Hart Benton and Hans Hoffman from 1933 to 1938 and with Ruth Leaf at the New School of Social Research from 1975 to 1980. She worked and taught at Whedon Art Center in Port Washington from 1945 until her death.
